Marine Fauthoux out for Euro 2025!

The French women’s team will have to play without Marine Fauthoux (1.74m, 24 years old) for Euro 2025. After leaving injured on Tuesday against Belgium, the Mersin point guard has suffered a severe left knee sprain according to this morning’s examinations. An ACL tear was feared.

A more serious injury than expected

On Tuesday evening, during the preparation game between France and Belgium in Brest, Marine Fauthoux injured her left knee after contact in the first half. She remained on the floor for several seconds before leaving without apparent assistance, and initially seemed reassuring.

However, Wednesday’s examinations confirmed a severe left knee sprain, making her withdrawal from Euro 2025 inevitable. This is a significant blow for Jean-Aimé Toupane’s staff, who were counting on the experience and rising form of the Tarbes-trained player, finalist of EuroLeague 2025.

Without her or Carla Leite, who is retained in the WNBA, the staff will mainly rely on Pauline Astier (Prague) and Romane Bernies (Lattes-Montpellier) at point guard, while Leila Lacan might be called upon to support them at the point guard position.
