Luka Doncic delivered a masterful performance Tuesday at the Crypto.com Arena. Facing the Cleveland Cavaliers (47-29), the Lakers superstar scored 42 points, dished out 12 assists and grabbed 5 rebounds, without committing a single turnover in his team’s 127-113 victory.

Returning after serving a one-game suspension, Doncic found all his offensive rhythm with a memorable play. In the paint, surrounded by five defenders, the Slovenian point guard faked a lob pass before faking out Thomas Bryant behind his back. Finally, he settled for a fadeaway over his opponent’s outstretched arm, hitting the target perfectly.

A historic feat shared with Michael Jordan

This latest performance allows Luka Doncic to enter NBA history. He becomes the third youngest player in history to reach 15,000 career points. Even more impressive, he joins Michael Jordan as the only players in history to have scored 600 points during the month of March.

« If you don’t win, it doesn’t really mean much, » Doncic said after the game. « So the streak we put together, that means a lot, we just have to keep playing like that. »

This victory allows the Lakers (50-26) to officially clinch their playoff spot. The Los Angeles team also reaches the 50-win mark for the second consecutive season, a first since the 2009-2010 and 2010-2011 campaigns. An accomplishment that demonstrates the renewed consistency of the California franchise, carried by the exceptional performances of its Slovenian floor general.
