Luka Doncic’s magic continues day after day in Katowice, but Sunday was truly special. The Slovenian superstar recorded the fourth triple-double in EuroBasket history since 1995 with 26 points, 11 assists, and 10 rebounds. This performance puts Doncic in a very exclusive circle of European elite.
The Lakers player also became the youngest player (26 years and 184 days) to reach 400 points in EuroBasket since Tony Parker in 2007 (25 years and 122 days). On the Slovenian side, only Goran Dragic and Jaka Lakovic had previously crossed this symbolic threshold.
Even more impressively, Doncic has already reached at least 400 points, 100 assists, and 100 rebounds in EuroBasket, accomplishing these marks in just 19 games. He thus becomes the fastest player to achieve this in the 21st century.

Slovenia’s superiority in rebounding was evident during this Sunday opener at the Spodek Arena. The 2017 European champions dominated Belgium 43 rebounds to 31 and outclassed them in the paint with 40 points scored against 18 conceded. This collective mastery, combined with the small ball adopted early in the game, allowed the Slovenians to easily control the first half.
Led by its number 77, Slovenia secured its first victory in EuroBasket 2025, after losses against Poland and France. The team can now confidently look forward to its next game against Iceland on Tuesday, September 2. Meanwhile, Dario Gjergja’s Belgium shows a record of one win and two losses in Group D and will need to bounce back against Israel on Tuesday.
