Geiselsoder heads to Mersin after two seasons in Mont-de-Marsan
Averaging 11.4 points, 7.4 rebounds and 2.8 assists this season in the championship, Luisa Geiselsoder has established herself as a key piece in Julie Barennes’ roster. Having arrived in France in 2020 with Landerneau, then playing for La Roche Vendée in 2022-2023, the German international has reached new heights at Basket Landes, particularly in the Women’s EuroLeague.
Her development caught the attention of Mersin, who recently reached the EuroLeague final. At this Turkish club aiming for European success, Geiselsoder will likely join some of the four French players (Marine Johannès, Iliana Rupert, Marine Fauthoux and Christelle Diallo) from the current roster.
Steady progression since her professional debut
Trained in Germany at Donau-Ries, Luisa Geiselsoder started very young, until her final season in 2019-2020 where she averaged 18.6 points with 58.8% shooting accuracy. In April 2020, she signed with Landerneau before being drafted by Dallas in the second round of the WNBA draft.
With national teams, she shone from youth categories, notably winning the U18 European Championship in 2018 alongside Nyara Sabally and Leonie Fiebich. She has since regularly appeared with the senior national team, representing Germany since November 2019.
