Loic Schwartz (1.96 m, 32 years old) will continue wearing the Saint-Quentin Basketball (SQBB) jersey during the 2025-2026 season, reports L’Aisne Nouvelle. While coach Julien Mahé is set to be officially announced at Nanterre this Tuesday, along with his assistant Karim Remil, the Belgian remains loyal to the Picardy club, where he has become one of the key players since joining in 2022.

Loïc Schwartz stays loyal to Saint-Quentin

Despite the instability caused by the staff changes – with Philippe Da Silva succeeding Julien Mahé as head coach – Loïc Schwartz has chosen to continue with Saint-Quentin. The Belgian international shooting guard has just extended his contract for one season, a decision that was expected for several days.

Having arrived in Aisne in October 2022 as a medical replacement, the former Ostend player has established himself as one of Saint-Quentin’s locker room pillars. In 2024-2025, he played 27 Betclic ELITE games, averaging 5.1 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.1 assists. In the Champions League (BCL), his statistics were slightly higher (6.8 points, 1.3 rebounds, and 0.8 assists in 6 appearances).

Valued for his discipline, professionalism, and experience, Schwartz is a reference point in a group that will inevitably evolve this summer, especially with a new coach. But this stability offered by the Belgian-trained player is not insignificant: it aligns with SQBB’s desire to build on its reliable assets to maintain its position in French basketball’s elite.
