It came down to the very last game. After six battles that left the series perfectly balanced at 3-3, Legia Warszawa and Zielona Gora met one final time to decide the Polish Orlen Basket Liga champion. On their home floor, Legia delivered when it mattered most, pulling away for a 78-70 victory and retaining the title they won a year prior.
The atmosphere at Hala OSiR Bemowo was electric from tip-off, with both clubs having spent the days leading up to the match stoking anticipation on social media. The pressure was immense, and it showed in the score — a low-scoring, grinding affair that reflected just how much was at stake for both sides.
Balanced contributions power Legia to glory
Legia‘s success was built on collective effort rather than a single dominant performance. Andrzej Pluta led all scorers on the night with 15 points, adding 3 rebounds and 5 assists in under 30 minutes of action. Alongside him, Dominic « D.J. » Brewton contributed 11 points and 5 assists, while Race Thompson posted a near double-double with 11 points and 9 rebounds. Shane Hunter chipped in 10 points and 7 rebounds, and Jayvon Graves rounded out the starting group with 9 points and a game-high 10 rebounds — a crucial presence on the glass in a game where every possession counted.
Zielona Gora fought hard until the final buzzer. Three players — Andrzej Mazurczak, Jayvon Vincent Maughmer, and Chavaughn Lewis — each finished with 10 points, while Conley Jacob Garrison orchestrated the offense with 7 assists. Filip Matczak added 8 points in just over 12 minutes off the bench. But despite their resilience, Zielona Gora could not find the extra gear needed to steal the championship on the road.
The eight-point final margin tells only part of the story. This was a series that went the distance, with neither team able to assert dominance over the other across six games before Legia finally closed the door. Defending a championship is never easy, and the fact that Legia had to survive a full seven-game final underlines just how competitive Polish basketball has become at the top level.
With this title, Legia Warszawa cements their status as the premier force in Polish basketball, back-to-back champions and worthy holders of the Orlen Basket Liga crown heading into the 2025-2026 offseason.
