LeBron James ties Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s wins record in Lakers victory

LeBron James keeps finding new lines in the record book.
In the Los Angeles Lakers’ 120–101 win over the Washington Wizards, he pulled even with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar at 1,228 career wins (including playoffs) — another milestone that somehow feels both historic and routine at this point.
A royal triple-double to match a legend
At 40, LeBron James is still bending the game to his will.
Against the Washington Wizards, he put up 21 points, 12 assists, and 10 rebounds — his third triple-double of the season, the 125th of his regular-season career. He came out aggressive, living in the paint early and hammering home two two-handed dunks off feeds from Austin Reaves in the first quarter.
And it fits the bigger trend.
The Los Angeles Lakers have now won 12 of their last 13, with Reaves adding 19 points and 9 assists in support. Luke Kennard and Jaxson Hayes chipped in 19 each off the bench — the kind of depth that’s starting to show up every night.
LeBron is 4 wins away from having the most career wins in NBA history:

Lakers dominate after balanced start
There was a brief moment early where it looked competitive — the Washington Wizards even led after the first — but it didn’t last.
The Los Angeles Lakers flipped the game with an 11–0 run, capped by five straight points from Jaxson Hayes, and never really looked back. By the end of the half, it had turned into a runaway — a brutal 38–13 stretch that sent Washington to the locker room down 21.
To their credit, Will Riley (20 points) and Justin Champagnie (18) kept pushing, but this version of the Wizards just doesn’t have enough right now — 19 losses in their last 20 tells the story.
They made one last push late in the third, trimming it to 10, and that’s when LeBron James stepped back in control — steadying the game, killing the momentum, closing the door.
The Lakers keep stacking wins as they push toward the postseason, even if the math — and the Pacific race — still isn’t fully locked in after the Phoenix Suns handled the Memphis Grizzlies 131–105.
And somewhere in all of it, LeBron just keeps adding to the résumé — one more game, one more mark, one more reminder of how long this has lasted.
