A new NBA trade was finalized Thursday, involving Nigel Hayes-Davis, the reigning EuroLeague Final Four MVP. The forward was dealt in a transaction between the Phoenix Suns and the Milwaukee Bucks, according to Shams Charania.

From Phoenix to Milwaukee: A Fresh Start for Former Fenerbahce Hero

“The Milwaukee Bucks have agreed to trade Cole Anthony and Amir Coffey to the Phoenix Suns for Nick Richards and Nigel Hayes-Davis,” revealed Shams Charania on ESPN. The move represents a pivotal moment in Hayes-Davis’ NBA journey, as he has yet to rediscover the form that made him one of Europe’s standout performers.

Hayes-Davis was the driving force behind Fenerbahçe’s remarkable campaign last season, capped by a EuroLeague title and the Turkish championship. After that historic run, the former Wisconsin Herd standout chose to return to the NBA, signing a three-year deal with Phoenix.

Difficult Stint in Phoenix, Hope for New Role in Milwaukee

However, his return to the NBA fell well short of expectations. Nigel Hayes-Davis appeared in just 27 games for the Phoenix Suns, averaging 1.3 points per contest—numbers that stand in stark contrast to the all-around impact and leadership he displayed in Europe.

Whether he can carve out a more meaningful role with the Milwaukee Bucks remains an open question. In need of added depth, Milwaukee could provide Hayes-Davis with the opportunity to rediscover the minutes and confidence that proved elusive in Phoenix, making this change of scenery a potential turning point in his NBA revival.
