The Atlanta Hawks will have to continue without two of their key players. Kristaps Porzingis and Zaccharie Risacher will not return for at least another week, according to the team’s latest updates.

Porzingis hampered by Achilles tendinitis

Kristaps Porzingis missed his sixth consecutive game during Monday night’s home matchup against the Milwaukee Bucks. The Latvian center is suffering from left Achilles tendinitis, an injury that adds to a season already marked by numerous physical setbacks and health problems.

Acquired last summer from the Boston Celtics, Porzingis has played only 17 games in a Hawks uniform. Despite this limited playing time, the former Mavericks player maintains solid statistics with averages of 17.1 points and 5.1 rebounds per game.

Risacher also dealing with knee injury

Zaccharie Risacher, the first pick of the 2024 draft, is also going through a difficult period. The young French forward has also missed six consecutive games due to a bone bruise in his left knee.

The French international is averaging 11.2 points over 36 games played this season. This extended absence represents a tough blow for the rookie’s development, as he was trying to find his rhythm in the NBA.

The team announced that both players will be reevaluated in approximately one week. This medical caution reflects the Hawks’ willingness to take no risks with their two important pieces, in a season where injuries have already weighed heavily on the Atlanta franchise’s ambitions.
