The Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant has formalized a new direct investment in Paris Saint-Germain, marking a significant milestone in his relationship with the French capital’s club. This minority stake comes with a major strategic role: advising PSG on its projects, possibly including expansion into basketball.

Already an indirect PSG shareholder for a year through Arctos Sports Partners, Durant is now taking a step further by investing directly in the Parisian club. This operation, conducted with his business partner Rich Kleiman through their company Boardroom, paves the way for ambitious collaborations in merchandise, media content, and especially basketball expansion.

A European-scale project with the NBA

Durant’s investment aligns with a broader vision, potentially including the creation of a PSG basketball team that could join NBA Europe, the European league project developed by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver. This initiative aims to create a professional competition owned and operated by the NBA in Europe, including new franchises and potentially teams leaving the EuroLeague.

« It’s an honor to partner with QSI and become a shareholder of Paris Saint-Germain – a club and city that are particularly close to my heart, » Durant stated. « This club has big ambitions for the future, and I’m excited to be part of its next phase of development and explore new investment opportunities with QSI. »

For his part, PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi expressed enthusiasm: « QSI is pleased to welcome Kevin Durant as a direct shareholder of Paris Saint-Germain and strategic partner of our group. We constantly seek to advance the club and our global portfolio through high-impact partnerships that bring strategic value, innovation, and international vision. »

This strategic alliance could transform the European basketball landscape, with Durant bringing his credibility as a two-time NBA champion and MVP to support PSG’s expansion. The impact on Paris Basketball, the current Parisian team in EuroLeague, remains to be determined based on negotiations between the NBA and European authorities.
