The Los Angeles Clippers just achieved the unthinkable, and a fan is going to have to literally eat his words. Robert Flom, editor of the independent Clippers blog 213Hoops, now realizes he put himself in a tricky situation by responding with a provocative tweet to coach Ty Lue on December 20.
At that time, the Clippers had a catastrophic record of 6 wins and 21 losses, one of the worst in the NBA despite their high salary cap. Lue had then told his team that the goal was to finish the season with a record of 35 wins and 20 losses. Faced with this statement, Flom had responded on X: « If they go 15-3 at any point this season, I will print out and eat this tweet. »

Kawhi Leonard, catalyst of the Clippers’ revival
Sunday night, when the Clippers crushed the Brooklyn Nets 126-89, Flom’s challenge was met. The team had just completed an exceptional run of 15 wins and 3 losses, forcing the fan to honor his bet.
Kawhi Leonard established himself as the catalyst of this spectacular comeback, scoring at least 20 points in 24 consecutive games. Against Brooklyn, Leonard finished as top scorer with 28 points in just 28 minutes. During this 18-game stretch, Leonard participated in 15 games with impressive averages of 31.8 points, 6.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.4 steals per game, while shooting over 43% from 3-point range.
The Clippers officially responded on X as soon as the final buzzer sounded, sharing a photo taken at the Intuit Dome of the printed tweet with the message: « CTRL+P 🖨️ @RichHomieFlom ». True to his word, Flom confirmed he would actually eat the printout of his tweet during a podcast episode Monday night.
Leonard himself showed concern for the fan’s health, stating: « I don’t know if that’s healthy for you. » Lue also had a message for Flom after the game: « He’s gotta do it live. »
