The NBA has revealed the final five invitees to the prestigious « Green Room » for the 2025 Draft, including French player Joan Beringer. The center joins his compatriots Nolan Traoré and Noa Essengue in this « exclusive waiting area » at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center.

According to ESPN, Joan Beringer is part of the third and final group of invitees, alongside Nique Clifford, Cedric Coward, Walter Clayton Jr. (last NCAA Final Four MVP) and Danny Wolf. This brings the total number of prospects who will wait with their families in front of the Draft podium on June 25 to 24.

An atypical journey to the Draft’s heights

Joan Beringer’s rise is undoubtedly one of the most surprising stories of this 2025 class. Completely under the radar and late to basketball, the French center has climbed the ranks at lightning speed to find himself today in a position where he could become a « lottery pick ».

Expected around the 15th pick according to projections, Beringer played this season with Cedevita Olimpija in Slovenia. His EuroCup statistics (4.6 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks) demonstrate his defensive potential and steady progress.

A selection based on NBA franchises’ expectations

The « Green Room » selection process involves consulting with team presidents and general managers who hold first-round picks. These executives vote to designate the 25 players they expect to be selected in the first round, to avoid prospects waiting too long in front of national cameras.

Receiving an invitation is a positive sign for a player’s stock, even though some prospects have occasionally fallen to the second round despite their presence in the « Green Room », as happened last year with Johnny Furphy and Kyle Filipowski. The 2025 Draft will take place over two days: the first round on June 25 at the Barclays Center, then the second round on June 26 at ESPN studios in New York.
