Playing away at Gentilly, Bourg-en-Bresse defeated SLUC Nancy (80-88) to claim their first victory of the season in Betclic ELITE. Led by a strong third quarter, Frédéric Fauthoux’s men managed to reverse the trend after halftime.

A victory that launches Bourg’s season

After an opening defeat in Limoges, JL Bourg-en-Bresse found their way to success this Saturday, October 4th in Nancy (80-88). However, the Cougars, driven by their crowd, had started the game perfectly. The Nolley – Fleming duo allowed SLUC to take the lead in the first quarter (12-6, 4th minute), before Bourg came back into the game led by Ricky Lindo and Adam Mokoka (20-21, 10th minute).

Led by an active Amini, Nancy regained control before halftime (46-40, 20th minute). But after the break, Frédéric Fauthoux’s men stepped up their game. Darius McGhee found his range from distance, and the « JL » inflicted a severe 29-14 run in the third quarter to turn the game around (60-69).

A solid team effort around Moulare and McGhee

With growing confidence, JL Bourg then managed their lead. Despite efforts from Amini and Nolley, Bourg maintained control thanks to Assemian Moulare’s efficiency (18 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists) and their collective composure in crunch time. JL finally wins 88-80, an encouraging victory before hosting Ankara at Ekinox on Wednesday for their EuroCup game.

Nancy, though courageous but too irregular, suffers their second consecutive defeat.
