James Harden Surpasses Shaquille O’Neal on NBA All-Time Scoring List

James Harden has just written a new page in history
With a three-pointer in the 3rd quarter, James Harden brought his total to 28,598 points in 1,187 regular season games, surpassing O’Neal’s 28,596 points, which had required 1,207 games over 19 seasons to establish that mark. A performance all the more remarkable as the 36-year-old achieved it in fewer games than the Lakers legend.
This season, Harden is posting impressive statistics with an average of 25.6 points per game, his best performance since the 2019-2020 season when he peaked at 34.3 points per game, winning the third of his three consecutive NBA scoring titles. In this 117-109 victory against Charlotte, he finished with 32 points and 10 assists.

A tall order to reach 8th place
The path to 8th place will be more challenging for the 2018 MVP. LeBron James sits at the top with 42,613 points, followed by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Karl Malone, Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, Dirk Nowitzki and Kevin Durant.
Harden doesn’t shine only in scoring. The All-Star also ranks 12th on the all-time assists list and holds 2nd place for career 3-pointers made, behind Stephen Curry. This new distinction confirms the legendary status of the player who holds the NBA record for consecutive games with 30 or more points, with 32 straight games.
