Hornets Chain Together Eighth Straight Victory Against Houston Rockets

The Charlotte Hornets continued their impressive streak by defeating the Houston Rockets 109-99 on Thursday night. This eighth consecutive victory marks the franchise’s longest winning streak since nine straight wins during the 1998-1999 season.
Kon Knueppel and LaMelo Ball Lead Hornets Offense
Rookie Kon Knueppel was the spearhead of Charlotte’s attack with 24 points, while LaMelo Ball added 20 points in this successful collective performance. Brandon Miller finished with 11 points despite being completely absent in the second quarter after picking up three fouls in the first period.

The gap widened progressively in favor of the Hornets, who led by 16 points after three quarters. Brandon Miller set the tone at the start of the final quarter by scoring the first five points to extend the lead to 96-75 with about 11 minutes remaining on the clock.
Houston Falls Heavily for Second Straight Time
A 5-0 run by Charlotte, capped by a 3-pointer from Sion James, made it 103-81 with about eight minutes remaining, prompting Rockets coach Ime Udoka to pull his starters. This marks the second consecutive heavy loss for Houston, which had fallen 114-93 on Wednesday night to Chicago Bulls.
Kevin Durant led the Rockets with 31 points and Jabari Smith Jr. added 17 points, but it wasn’t enough for a Houston team that held fourth place in the Western Conference before this game. Alperen Sengun had a difficult night with only 7 points on 3-of-11 shooting, despite averaging 21.2 points.
The Hornets will welcome Coby White, recently traded by the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday, but the player is not expected to return to competition until after the All-Star break due to a persistent calf injury. Charlotte will travel to Atlanta on Saturday night, while Houston will visit Oklahoma City the same day.
