While Paris Basketball prepares to face JL Bourg in the Betclic ELITE playoff semifinals, its future seems to be taking shape behind the scenes. Current Nymburk coach Francesco Tabellini, expected to take over from Tiago Splitter as head of the Parisian team, has officially left his position. Another step toward his arrival in France.

This Monday, Nymburk club confirmed the end of its collaboration with Francesco Tabellini by « mutual agreement, » according to the published statement. Still under contract for another season, the 41-year-old Italian coach has seen his stock rise sharply after two successful years in the Czech Republic. « The team’s performances have attracted a lot of attention across Europe, » explained general manager Ladislav Sokolovsky. « We didn’t want to prevent him from advancing in his career. »
With Nymburk, Francesco Tabellini led 138 games, achieving an impressive record of 116 victories, winning two championship titles, two Czech Cups, and two Czecho-Slovak Cups. This success makes him the favorite to succeed Tiago Splitter in Paris.
In the midst of fighting for the French title, Paris is not expected to announce its new coach’s arrival until after its playoff journey ends. But the stars now seem aligned. In a statement reported by Eurohoops, Tabellini simply stated: « There have been many speculations in the media. I can neither confirm nor deny anything. Until something is official, I don’t want to discuss it. »
Also worth noting that his assistant Giovanni Spessotto is also leaving Nymburk, along with American forward Tylan Birts, who is joining another BCL regular, Bonn.
