Murjanatu Musa (1.88 m, 25 years old) no longer wants to stay at Tarbes Gespe Bigorre. In the midst of administrative turmoil, the Hautes-Pyrénées club sees its sporting and structural situation deteriorating day by day. Faced with salary delays, the Nigerian center, currently in the WNBA, has expressed her desire to leave. Basket Landes, the reigning French champion, is ready to sign her according to La Dépêche. Meanwhile, youth academy director Marie-Pierre Uriarte has found refuge across the Pyrenees in Zaragoza.
Among the best players in La Boulangère Wonderligue, ‘MJ’ Musa made her mark in her first season in France. The Nigerian international (14.9 points and 9.4 rebounds for an average evaluation of 20) logically made the season’s All-Star Five and played in EuroCup with TGB. But given the deteriorating situation in Tarbes – delayed payments, administrative uncertainties – she wants a change of scenery.
Having extended her contract during the season, Musa cannot leave freely. Her departure, however, would allow the club to significantly reduce its wage bill. But despite financial tensions, TGB doesn’t want to release her. Basket Landes is closely monitoring the situation and hopes to achieve two objectives: sign a dominant player and strengthen their interior rotation for EuroLeague.
Marie-Pierre Uriarte, former player, Espoirs coach and youth academy director at TGB, has already turned the page. Officially recruited by Casademont Zaragoza, she will be Carlos Cantero’s assistant, alongside Frenchman Arnaud Ferreres. This departure, in an already fragile context for youth development in Tarbes, is another setback.
TGB’s situation grows darker each week. La Dépêche confirms that several current and former club employees have filed labor court cases. The complaints reportedly come from the communication department and former assistant coaches.
While awaiting the CNOSF’s decision regarding the club’s appeal, management remains silent. And departures continue to multiply.
