Tarik Biberovic will not discover the NBA this season. The Fenerbahçe forward (6’7″, 24) has officially declined an offer from the Memphis Grizzlies, who hold his NBA rights since the 2023 draft, to extend his European journey until 2028.

Selected 56th by Memphis in the 2023 draft, the Turkish player of Bosnian origin was courted by several NBA franchises. According to journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu, three other teams were also interested in his services, but only the Grizzlies could negotiate directly with him.

A logical choice after European triumph

This decision comes after an exceptional season where Biberovic played a crucial role in Fenerbahçe’s Euroleague conquest. The forward posted remarkable statistics with 10.4 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.4 assists on average in 37 Euroleague games, shooting an excellent 43.2% from 3-point range on 5 attempts per game.

In the Turkish league, his performance was equally solid with 9.7 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.7 assists in 29 games. These statistics confirm his status as a reliable and versatile shooter, capable of making valuable contributions on both ends of the floor.

Arriving at Fenerbahçe in 2018 while still a teenager, Biberovic has climbed through all ranks of the Turkish club. His achievements with the Istanbul team are already impressive: one Euroleague (2025), three Turkish championships (2022, 2024, 2025), and four Turkish Cups (2019, 2020, 2024, 2025).

This extension is excellent news for Fenerbahçe, who has already lost several key players this summer, including Nigel Hayes-Davis (gone to the Suns), Marko Guduric, Errick McCollum, and Dyshawn Pierre. Only Mikael Jantunen, from Paris, has joined the roster so far.

Biberovic’s choice to stay in Europe, despite « very serious » NBA interest, demonstrates his desire to continue his development in an environment he perfectly masters, within a European championship team.
