Betclic ELITE - After playing for Le Portel in 2023-2024, Edon Maxhuni returns to Hauts-de-France. Following an eventful 2024-2025 season between Strasbourg, Scafati and Karsiyaka, the Finnish point guard signs with BCM Gravelines-Dunkerque.

Edon Maxhuni (6’2″, 27) returns to Betclic ELITE. After shining at Le Portel, disappointing in Strasbourg, and brief stints in Italy and Turkey, the Finnish international point guard settles in Gravelines-Dunkerque for the 2025-2026 season. BCM hopes to see the inspired Maxhuni who excelled in ESSM colors.

A return to Hauts-de-France to relaunch his career

The announcement was made by the club this Thursday: « Edon Maxhuni will return to the Opal Coast ». BCM Gravelines-Dunkerque secures an experienced reinforcement with the one-year signing of the former Le Portel player. During his previous stint in the region in 2023-2024, Maxhuni left a strong impression: 10.9 points, 1.4 rebounds and 3.7 assists in 26 games. He was a key player in ESSM’s historic season, which ended with a playoff qualification and a European spot.

But what followed was much more chaotic. Recruited by SIG Strasbourg in summer 2024, he failed to establish himself in Alsace. Despite some highlights (15.2 points in wins), his inconsistency led SIG to part ways with him in January 2025.

A season with three clubs

After leaving Strasbourg, Edon Maxhuni tried to restart his career at Scafati in Italy. In ten Serie A games, he averaged 11.6 points and 2.2 assists. But the club couldn’t break its negative spiral and, with only two wins during this period, the point guard was eventually released. He finished the season in Turkey with Pinar Karsiyaka, without leaving a significant mark.

A fresh start at BCM

He joins BCM Gravelines-Dunkerque with the desire to find stability. He will form the backcourt alongside Mike Lewis II, Gauthier Denis and young Soren Bracq. The northern club hopes to see the best version of the Finnish international, who will participate in EuroBasket 2025 with the Finnish national team.

« He was unanimously appreciated at ESSM, » recalls BCM’s press release. It remains to be seen if he can reproduce this impact in the maritime jersey, in a context where consistency will be required after a particularly unstable season.
