This gesture comes as the Slovenian officially becomes the new Lakers superstar, relegating James to a secondary role for the first time in his Los Angeles career.

This private approach contrasts with James’ public absence, who attended neither the press conference nor the Backstreet Boys concert in Las Vegas the same day, where part of the Lakers staff and management had gathered to celebrate the event.
At 40 years old and entering his 23rd NBA season, LeBron James seems to accept his new status within the franchise. While he only received a « player option » worth $52.6 million, Doncic just signed one of the most lucrative extensions in recent NBA history.
