Cooper Flagg injured: Mavericks rookie out until All-Star break

The Dallas Mavericks will have to do without their gem Cooper Flagg for several days. The first pick of the 2025 draft is suffering from a left midfoot sprain that will sideline him until the end of All-Star Weekend, as the team announced Wednesday.
Injury occurred during Phoenix Suns game
This forced absence deprives the 19-year-old of Thursday night’s game against the Los Angeles Lakers, as well as the Rising Stars Game scheduled during All-Star Weekend. The Mavericks’ first game after the break is scheduled for February 20 against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Exceptional performances despite Dallas losing streak
Despite this injury, Cooper Flagg remains the heavy favorite to win Rookie of the Year. His statistics for the entire season speak for themselves: 20.4 points, 6.6 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game.
The rookie has even elevated his game during the Mavericks’ current losing streak. During Dallas’ eight consecutive losses, Flagg compiled impressive averages of 29.7 points, 7.6 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game, demonstrating his ability to carry the team on his shoulders despite his young age.
This injury comes at a difficult time for the Mavericks, who are going through a tough period with eight straight losses. The temporary absence of their best rookie could complicate matters for the Texas team, but the scheduled return after the All-Star break offers hope for a quick comeback for the 19-year-old phenomenon.
