Denain continues building its roster for the 2025-2026 Pro B season. The club has officially announced the signings of Christian Nelson and Marcos Suka-Umu, two reinforcements with very different but complementary profiles. The first comes off a successful season with Levallois in NM1, while the second led Boulazac to Betclic ELITE.

Christian Nelson, a meteoric rise

Having come through BCM Gravelines-Dunkerque’s youth academy, Christian Nelson (1.99m, 24 years old) has climbed through all amateur basketball levels before making his professional debut this season with Levallois in Nationale 1. In his first year as a pro, the power forward quickly established himself as a key player: averaging 11.9 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.7 assists over 25 games, for a 17 efficiency rating in 26 minutes of play.

Explosive, efficient and capable of shining in big games (28 points against Rennes, 17 against Tarbes, 16 against Tours and Challans), he recorded 7 games with over 15 points. His energy and constant progression convinced Denain to trust him at the next level.

Marcos Suka-Umu, the return of a Pro B veteran

At 39, Marcos Suka-Umu (1.93m) continues to make an impact in Pro B. The Spaniard is a reference in the division, with remarkable consistency. Last season with Boulazac, he was one of the driving forces behind their promotion to Betclic ELITE: averaging 9.2 points and 3.1 assists for a 10.3 efficiency rating in 24 minutes over 37 games.

His basketball IQ and unselfishness (13 games with over 4 assists, including a season-high 10 assists against Aix-Maurienne) will be valuable in guiding a young group. At Denain, he’ll reunite with two former Lille teammates, Lien Phillip and Marc-Olivier Lasserre, with whom he’s already shown great chemistry on the court.

« We are very proud to announce today the signing of Marcos Suka-Umu, » declared Mehdi Chalah, the club’s general manager. « A true Pro B reference, he embodies the values we wish to promote: excellence, humility, fighting spirit and team spirit. »

A balanced recruitment for Denain

With Christian Nelson and Marcos Suka-Umu, Denain completes its roster with two complementary profiles: the energy and potential of a rising young player, and the composure of a seasoned point guard, built to guide his teammates in crucial moments. The Dragons confirm their ambitions for stability and progress for the 2025-2026 season.
