Carl Ponsar (2.03m, 28 years old) didn’t find a contract in the French first division, but he managed to rebound abroad: the 28-year-old French power forward/small forward has signed a two-month contract with Legia Warsaw, reigning Polish champions competing in the Basketball Champions League (BCL).

A European opportunity for Ponsar

After his 2024-2025 season with ASA (in Pro B), Carl Ponsar hoped to secure a spot in Betclic ELITE. Instead, he will continue his career in Poland with Legia Warsaw. The club, preparing for a busy season between the national championship and BCL, decided to offer him a two-month contract to compensate for the absence of injured American forward Race Thompson (2.03m, 26 years old).

Carl Ponsar wasn’t unknown there since the Legia Warsaw Sports Director is none other than French-Polish Aaron Cel, former Polish national team figure, who closely follows opportunities regarding French players.

Expected reinforcement in BCL

Legia Warsaw, which is in BCL Group A, wants to rely on Carl Ponsar’s outside shooting, among other skills. With this temporary contract, the Norman player will have the opportunity to showcase himself in a prestigious competition and potentially secure a longer-term contract at a high level.

If he manages to establish himself, this stint in Poland could provide him with a new showcase for his career future, having had to step down to National 1 after a series of injuries.
