FC Barcelone will have to do without Tomas Satoransky to host Paris Basketball on Thursday at Palau Blaugrana. The 34-year-old Czech point guard, injured in the back during the victory against Baskonia last Friday in Round 27 of EuroLeague, has been officially ruled out for this regular season game of the 2025-2026 season.

An infirmary filling up before the Copa del Rey

Satoransky’s absence adds to that of Kevin Punter, injured in the left thigh and unavailable for two to four weeks. « Kevin will definitely not be available against Manresa either, and we will have to see about his status for the Copa del Rey, » coach Xavi Pascual said at Wednesday’s pre-game press conference.

Regarding Satoransky, the Catalan coach added: « We will see if he can return on Sunday, and if so, whether he will be fit enough to be available for the Copa del Rey. »

The situation worsens with Juan Nunez, still absent after knee surgery and expected to miss the rest of the season. Tornike Shengelia and Dario Brizuela are also sick and uncertain to face Paris.

A crucial game to maintain standing

Before this Round 28, Barcelona sits in third place in the EuroLeague standings with a record of 17 wins and 10 losses, tied with Valencia. The Catalans trail the leader Fenerbahce by 2.5 games and have only a one-game lead over the Play-In zone.

For their part, Paris sits in 18th place with only 8 wins and 18 losses, far from the playoff race. This matchup therefore represents an opportunity for Barcelona to consolidate its position despite a squad depleted by injuries and illness.
