The Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry has officially confirmed his return to the NBA 3-point contest for the 2026-2027 season. The announcement was made during NBC’s « NBA Showtime » on Sunday, during the All-Star Game where he was absent due to a knee injury.

A Dream Lineup with the League’s Best Shooters

When asked by NBC’s Ahmed Fareed about a possible participation next year, Curry didn’t hesitate for a second: « Oh, 100 percent. I’ve already scheduled it. We’re going to bring a few people: Me, Dame, I’m going to try to get Klay. »

This statement follows Damian Lillard‘s victory Saturday night, who won his third 3-point contest title with 29 points in the final, ahead of Devin Booker. Lillard, currently recovering from a left Achilles tendon rupture, joins a very exclusive circle of only three players with his three victories (2023, 2024, 2026).

Curry Aims for a Historic Third Title

The Warriors point guard, the all-time record holder for 3-pointers made in the NBA, has won the contest twice: in 2015 in New York and in 2021 in Atlanta, during his last participation. Klay Thompson, his former teammate, had triumphed in 2016 in Toronto, ironically beating Curry in the final.

This season, Curry maintains an excellent 39.1% 3-point shooting percentage and has led the league in this category eight times in his career. A third title would allow him to tie Lillard in the all-time standings of this iconic event.

Curry’s announced return, potentially accompanied by Lillard and Thompson, promises to restore prestige to a contest that could offer a spectacular show during the 2027 All-Star Weekend in Phoenix. An enticing prospect for basketball fans who eagerly await this duel between 3-point shooting legends.
