The Denver Nuggets have just announced another setback in their already challenging season on the medical front. Aaron Gordon, their 30-year-old forward, is suffering from a right hamstring strain and will be re-evaluated in four to six weeks. A relapse that comes at the worst possible time for the Colorado franchise.
The former Orlando player was injured last Friday during the 102-100 victory against the Milwaukee Bucks. Hurt in the second quarter, Gordon did not return to the court in the second half. However, coach David Adelman was optimistic after the game, explaining that his player felt the injury wasn’t as serious as the one in November.

This new injury represents a major blow for Aaron Gordon, who was having the best statistical campaign of his career with 17.7 points and 6.2 rebounds per game in only 20 games played. The forward was also showing remarkable 3-point shooting with a 40% success rate, confirming his offensive progression.
Gordon had already missed 19 games between November and January due to a similar hamstring injury. He had just returned to his starting position and was gradually building momentum after his return in early January. This setback occurs in a particularly difficult context, as it happened during the second game of a back-to-back, after playing 33 minutes the night before against Washington.
The Nuggets injury ward keeps filling up this season. The team is currently playing without four starters: Nikola Jokic (left knee), Christian Braun (ankle), Cameron Johnson (knee), and now Gordon. Even Jamal Murray is questionable due to hamstring problems.
Despite this wave of injuries, Denver maintains its third place in the West with a record of 31 wins and 16 losses. The Nuggets have even posted an impressive 9-5 record since Jokic’s absence, thanks notably to All-Star performances from Murray and the emergence of Peyton Watson. Jokic’s return, expected « in about a week » according to the latest information, could provide hope before the playoffs.
