Zalgiris Kaunas in turmoil: their star signing arrested while drunk!

Expected to be the successor to Sylvain Francisco at Zalgiris Kaunas, Carsen Edwards is starting his Lithuanian adventure with a scandal attached. While the American is already proving himself on the court — though far from the heights reached by the Frenchman last year — it's his off-court conduct that has the former Bologna player making headlines today.
According to local media, the scorer was arrested while drunk... with more than one gram of alcohol in his blood!
Tested with 1.07 g/L after a win
The news, revealed by our Lithuanian colleagues at Krepsinis.net, was quickly confirmed by the Lithuanian police department. This allows for a fairly precise account of the incident. Everything reportedly took place on the night of Sunday, October 4 to Monday, October 5, around 12:30 a.m., in Kaunas.

During a nighttime preventive check, Carsen Edwards was stopped by police. Given a breathalyzer test, the guard showed a blood alcohol level of 1.07 ‰ (or 1.07 g/L), just hours after Zalgiris's win over Lietkabelis Panevėžys (97-68), in which he had shined with 11 points and 6 assists in 17 minutes.
Kaunas remains cautious, Carsen Edwards faces serious consequences
While the player faces potential legal proceedings as well as administrative penalties (license suspension, fine), the club's management quickly responded with a statement: "We are aware of the information that has been made public and are currently looking into the circumstances of the situation, both internally and with all parties involved. Once the investigation is complete, we will communicate on the decisions made or next steps. Until then, we will have no further comment."
The Lithuanian club could have done without this incident, especially since they were counting on the American to write a new chapter. Signed this summer on a one-year deal plus an option year, Carsen Edwards had the tough job of taking over from Sylvain Francisco, who left to join Panathinaikos. On the court, the former Virtus Bologna player's profile offered plenty of assurance (17.3 points per game in EuroLeague last season), confirmed by his start to the season averaging 16 points.
While awaiting the results of the investigation, Carsen Edwards could miss the club's next game. That will be at the Palau, against FC Barcelona, on Thursday, in EuroLeague.
