Zacharie Perrin out for several months after fracture
Veolia Towers Hamburg will be without their best player for several weeks. Zacharie Perrin fractured his right hand on a defensive play during Sunday’s 95–85 win over Basketball Löwen Braunschweig, according to regional daily Hamburger Abendblatt.

Sudden Injury that puts the young Frenchman’s rise on hold
The left-handed power forward left the floor immediately, clearly in pain, before being taken to the hospital. Operated on Monday, Zacharie Perrin is expected to undergo two weeks of complete rest, following the standard medical protocol for this type of fracture.
A return to on-court work is not expected before the fourth week, with game action ruled out for at least two months. It’s a significant setback for the Hamburg Towers, who had won four straight games in the Basketball Bundesliga and were playing their best basketball of the season.
“This hurts us extremely,” head coach Benka Barloschky said, referring to the injury suffered by his most statistically efficient player in both the Bundesliga and the EuroCup. Perrin’s rapid rise mirrored the team’s recent surge—both now abruptly put on hold.

With Perrin set to miss extended time, Hamburg Towers will have to adjust on the fly. Martin Breunig and captain Benedikt Turudić already absorbed much of the Frenchman’s workload against Braunschweig, doing so despite early foul trouble.

Niklas Wimberg and Zsombor Maronka also stepped up, making their presence felt on the glass. Perrin’s injury could now ripple into the Hamburg Towers’ approach on the transfer market.
The club still has one roster move available through the end of March. While sporting director Marvin Willoughby had initially leaned toward adding a wing, the priority may shift to, as the local press put it with irony, “someone with intact bones,” after a season marked by a string of hand and finger injuries.
