A gradual return after four months away

Sidelined with a knee injury, Vincent Amsellem went through a lengthy rehab process. « Yes, I was injured for 4 months, and I returned to team training last Monday, with work on opposition drills, and everything went well. I can play again without pain, with the support of the staff who manage my transitions well. So for now it’s going very well. »

The former youth international first focused on rehab work before returning to individual training just under a month ago. His workload has gradually ramped up, closely monitored by the Limoges CSP medical staff — whom he made sure to thank: « I enormously thank the Limoges CSP medical staff. »

If everything continues on this track, he should be available for the March 8 matchup against Paris Basketball: « Yes, normally. In principle I will be fit to play. »

« It’s very frustrating to stay on the sidelines »

Beyond the physical side, those four months away from the court were mentally tough. « My motivation is through the roof because it’s very frustrating to stay on the sidelines for so long and watch your teammates. I also know that I shouldn’t rush and skip steps, but during training, when they ask me to come out, it makes me a bit upset because I want to stay, to play. »

Present for almost every practice and home game, he experienced the season from the outside: « Honestly, it wasn’t easy. Even though I support the team 2000% and my teammates always made sure to include me in the team, you inevitably feel a bit sidelined, because you don’t share the efforts on the court or moments on the road. So it bothered me a bit. But I’m mainly thinking about getting back in shape and my knee, so now, I’m very happy with the outcome. »

Limoges CSP seeking consistency

From a team standpoint, Limoges CSP went through a rough stretch, marked by injuries and defensive struggles. Vincent Amsellem breaks it down: « In my opinion, this avalanche of injuries in October-November didn’t make things easier. And then, you fall into a spiral where you start to doubt, to have stumbles in our game. We also had great difficulty defending. I think there was a month during which we gave up 100 or 110 points in every game. »

Still, he sees clear progress since the start of 2026: « Now, since 2026, I find there’s a lot of improvement, I think the team is playing better and is focused in its games. Against Strasbourg or Cholet we came close. Against Saint-Quentin, Dijon and Chalon, we play our game and stay in our match, so it’s very positive. »

An intensity challenge against Paris Basketball

To beat Paris Basketball, Vincent Amsellem knows the challenge will start on the physical and defensive end: « We’ll have to match their intensity, because it’s kind of their trademark, with all those substitutions, all the energy they bring. We’ll also need to slow down their offensive talents. I’m especially thinking about their backcourt, which just caused big problems for Panathinaikos. »

It’s a timely return for Limoges CSP, which will look to lean on the guard’s energy and fresh legs to help reignite its momentum.
