Incredible Elan Chalon grabs victory at Alba Berlin, cruel finish for MSB
Tom Compayrot
After qualifying for the Champions League (BCL) through the preliminary round, Chalon started the main round with a prestigious victory at ALBA Berlin (76-81) this Wednesday October 8. After years in EuroLeague, the German capital club chose to return to FIBA’s European Cup, while potentially waiting to join NBA Europe. But on the sporting side, the club fell victim to the Burgundian lightning, particularly from their chief marksman Jeremiah Hill (6’2″, 30 years old).
With just a handful of seconds left on the penultimate possession and when a stop would have given the Berliners one last chance to tie or win (with 4.6 seconds to play), the Cameroonian international found space between two local defenders to shoot a 3-pointer.

A 3-pointer that he made to seal the game’s fate, with a 5-point lead and just over 4 seconds remaining on the clock. An even more impressive performance considering the former BCM Gravelines-Dunkerque player was only 1/7 from beyond the arc before this attempt.

Thanks to this away victory, Elan Chalon starts their European adventure well in Group B. They will now need to confirm at the Colisée to take a good option for play-in qualification. But in any case, this Chalon victory relieves some pressure for Elric Delord’s team, who continues in BCL with an away game at Prague’s Kralovka Arena to face Czech team Nymburk next week (game on Wednesday October 14).
