Victor Wembanyama (7’4″, 21 years old) continues to build momentum before the NBA season starts. Against the 2025 finalists, the Indiana Pacers, the French San Antonio player dazzled again with 27 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals and 1 block in 28 minutes (124-108). The Spurs remain undefeated (4-0) in this preseason where the young prodigy keeps improving game after game.
Wembanyama dominates, Spurs stay composed
Looking increasingly comfortable in the Texan system, Wemby delivered a complete game, combining offensive efficiency (9/13 field goals, 2/3 from 3-point range) and defensive impact. While he still had some turnovers (7), the Parisian native mainly dominated with his fluidity and decision-making accuracy. One week before the season starts, he’s already establishing himself as the cornerstone of the Spurs’ 2025-2026 project.
On the other side, Bennedict Mathurin (6’6″, 23 years old) offered strong resistance with 31 points on 11/12 shooting, but San Antonio’s bench depth made the difference in the fourth quarter.

Castle and Harper impress, Wembanyama-Kornet duo confirms potential
Stephon Castle (6’6″, 20 years old), starting at point guard in his return to action, also made his mark with 14 points and 4 assists, as did rookie Dylan Harper (11 points, 8 assists). Both young guards were used in innovative systems, sometimes setting screens for Wembanyama, a unique configuration reminiscent of some of Nikola Jokic’s plays with the Nuggets.
In the paint, the connection between Wembanyama and Luke Kornet (7’2″, 30 years old) continues to wreak havoc. The former Boston player, perfect from the field (6/6), benefits from the Frenchman’s mobility to dominate in the spaces created. The Spurs are showing impressive team basketball, with fluid ball movement and already solid defense.
A perfect preseason before Dallas
With four wins in as many games, San Antonio approaches the end of preparation with confidence. The Spurs will face Indiana again on Friday, October 17 for their final preseason game, before opening the regular season at home against the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday, October 22.
The tone is set: Victor Wembanyama seems ready to make a strong impact from the start of the 2025-2026 NBA season.
