The Timberwolves finally broke their losing streak Monday in Minneapolis. After suffering five consecutive defeats, Minnesota secured a valuable victory against a significantly weakened Warriors team at Target Center, winning 108-83.

In this second meeting between the two teams in two days, Golden State rested Steph Curry, Draymond Green, Al Horford and De’Anthony Melton, while Minnesota played without Anthony Edwards.

A Slow Start but Total Domination

Minnesota had a sluggish beginning Monday, suggesting a sixth consecutive defeat might be on the cards. But the Wolves shot 65% in the second quarter to lead by 15 points at halftime and were never threatened again, extending the lead to as much as 32 points.

Bones Hyland was the spark Minnesota’s bench needed. While the Timberwolves’ reserve production had been catastrophic during their recent losing streak, Hyland rediscovered his old form. He energized the offense in the first half with a series of successful finishes near the rim, while creating plays for his teammates. Overall, Hyland finished with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists.

Gobert Rediscovers His Dominance

Rudy Gobert reasserted his superiority against an undersized Warriors lineup. The French center, whose consistency has been one of the strong points of the Timberwolves’ 2025-2026 campaign, finished with 15 points and 17 rebounds while serving as a major deterrent in the paint.

The Warriors endured a nightmare offensively. Missing four key rotation players, they posted disastrous shooting percentages at 35% from the field and just 23% from 3-point range, while committing 19 turnovers. This disappointing performance illustrates the California team’s difficulties in compensating for the absence of their usual leaders.
