Head Coach
Pierric Poupet is ASVEL's 3rd head coach in 2023/2024, following the dismissals of T.J. Parker and Gianmarco Pozzecco. He is notably assisted by former French international Joseph Gomis. Following good results and the recognized attitude of players under his leadership, ASVEL announced on April 17 that Pierric Poupet's contract has been extended as head coach of the professional team until June 30, 2026.
Budget
For the 2024/2025 season, ASVEL has a projected budget of €16.2M (down from €21.0M last year, -23% due to serious financial difficulties of its sponsor SKWEEK, which did not fulfill all its commitments), making it the 3rd largest budget among the 16 Betclic Elite clubs (according to DNCCGCP communication on October 22, 2024).
For the 2023/2024 season, ASVEL had a projected budget of €21.0M (up from €15.8M the previous year, +33%), making it the 2nd largest budget among the 18 Betclic Elite clubs (according to DNCCGCP communication on October 12, 2023).
Youth Academy
Coached by Mike Happio, ASVEL's youth team has an impressive roster including Izan Le Meut (7'0", 19 years old) on loan from Quimper, power forward Petar Majstorovic who came from Alliance Sport Alsace, and Congolese center Paul Mbiya Kabenga (6'11", 18 years old).
In a broader context, Tony Parker has also launched the Tony Parker Adéquat Academy in Lyon, offering an innovative concept combining passion, education and employment, enabling young enthusiasts to build their life projects.
