Physical issues continue to plague Paul George. The Philadelphia 76ers forward underwent left knee surgery last Monday after suffering an injury during a recent summer workout. This new surgical procedure comes after a disappointing first season in Pennsylvania, marked by numerous absences.
According to Shams Charania of ESPN, the arthroscopic procedure was successful. The 35-year-old player will now begin a rehabilitation program and will be re-evaluated before training camp starts in September. This injury involves the same knee that had already troubled him last fall.

A cautious approach to regain peak performance
The Sixers organization and Paul George’s team have decided to adopt a careful strategy regarding his rehabilitation. « Both parties will be cautious with him, » Shams Charania specified. « They want to see George return to his complete form that they simply haven’t seen in Philadelphia. I expect both parties to be careful with this injury. »
This new procedure represents an additional challenge for Paul George, who’s looking to bounce back after a particularly difficult 2024-2025 season. The former Pacers and Clippers player only played 41 games, posting his lowest statistics since 2014-2015 with 16.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game.
Last season was marked by a cascade of injuries for the Sixers, forcing the team to adopt a rebuilding strategy that ultimately led to the arrival of young talent V.J. Edgecombe. Paul George was notably sidelined from March due to multiple injuries to his groin, hand, and knee.
With a four-year, $212 million contract signed last summer, and over $162 million still to be received through 2028, Paul George will be eager to justify this massive investment. At 35, the nine-time All-Star hopes to regain his form and silence critics, while trade rumors have recently surrounded his name. The goal remains to form a competitive « Big Three » with Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey, despite the difficulties encountered during this first collaboration.
