Seth Curry joins Stephen at the Warriors: « I tried to buy his number 30 »

Seth Curry has officially joined the Golden State Warriors on a one-year, $3.6 million contract, finally uniting with his brother Stephen under the same colors. At 35, the younger Curry brother waited a long time before experiencing this unique moment in his NBA career.
During his introductory press conference, Seth Curry drew laughs when revealing his attempt to obtain his brother’s iconic number 30: « I tried to buy it from him, but he said he already had enough money! And I think the NBA wouldn’t have agreed anyway… » The new Warrior will ultimately wear number 31, staying numerically close to his illustrious brother.

A change of mindset after years of resistance
This signing marks a turning point in Seth Curry’s philosophy, who had long refused to join Stephen. « I had said several times in the past that I didn’t want to be on the same team, that I wanted to forge my own path. But I’m comfortable being here now, and clearly everyone is excited, and so am I, » he shared.
The adjustment is happening gradually, even though the first practices with Stephen remain unusual: « It’s a bit strange but it’s practice, and we’re trying to prepare, both of us, for the games. » This situation however simplifies family life, as Seth explains: « Instead of watching multiple games, it’ll be easier with just one game to watch. Everyone is happy about this situation, except maybe my dad who didn’t want me to leave Charlotte. »
A valuable asset for the Warriors’ offense
Seth Curry brings his 3-point expertise to the Warriors, having been the league’s best shooter last season with 45.6% accuracy in Charlotte. With a career average of 43.3% from behind the arc, he perfectly complements an already formidable backcourt with Stephen Curry and Buddy Hield.
« Seth is really a good player. He’s one of the best shooters in the NBA, and he’s going to help us win games, » says Steve Kerr. The integration seems facilitated by his deep knowledge of the Warriors system: « These past sixteen years, I’ve had to watch 95% of Warriors games. I know their style, and I know how they play… Since Steph has been here for so long, I already feel like I’m at home. »
This historic signing allows the Warriors to strengthen their bench while giving the Curry brothers a unique opportunity to shine together on NBA courts.
