Player Profile
When Saddiq Bey led his Sidwell Friends School team to a conference title despite an ankle injury that had kept him off the court, few could have imagined that this resilience would become his trademark in the NBA. The Charlotte forward has always known how to turn obstacles into opportunities.
His college journey perfectly illustrates this ability to adapt. Originally committed to NC State, Bey changed course in June 2018 to join Villanova, a decision that paid off. From his very first season with the Wildcats, he established himself as a key contributor and helped win the Big East tournament, cementing his status as a four-star recruit.
Selected 19th overall in the 2020 draft by Brooklyn and immediately traded to Detroit, Bey entered the NBA with the Pistons, where he spent three seasons honing his skills. His defensive versatility and three-point shooting quickly made him a sought-after player, qualities that opened the door to Atlanta before his arrival in Washington.
Wearing number 14 for the Wizards, Bey now embodies this new generation of forwards capable of stretching defenses while protecting their own basket.
