Player Profile
When Perry Linnard "PJ" Dozier Jr. steps onto the court, he carries far more than just a jersey on his shoulders. Born into a family where basketball runs in the blood, this Columbia, South Carolina native grew up watching his father Perry Sr. and his uncle Terry play at the University of South Carolina, unknowingly paving his own path to the top.
His breakthrough came at Spring Valley High School, where his performances earned him a spot in the prestigious McDonald's All-American Game in 2015. His 14 points in that national showcase confirmed his potential, but it was at the University of South Carolina that Dozier truly made his mark on history. A versatile guard standing 6'6", he helped propel the Gamecocks to their first NCAA Final Four since 1973, an achievement that still resonates throughout the state.
After declaring for the 2017 NBA Draft, Dozier embarked on a winding but rewarding professional career. Going undrafted, he refused to give up and accumulated a wealth of experience: stints with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Boston Celtics, Denver Nuggets, and Sacramento Kings in the NBA, as well as time in the G League and in Europe with Anadolu Efes Istanbul and Partizan Belgrade.
His tenacious defense and ability to play multiple backcourt and wing positions made him a valuable asset, until a torn ACL in November 2021 with Denver abruptly halted his momentum. But knowing his legendary resilience, Dozier continues to write his story with the same determination that has always defined him.
