Player Profile

When Nae'Qwan Tomlin steps onto NBA courts, few would guess that just a few years ago, this 6'9" giant stood only 5'9" as a high school freshman. This remarkable physical transformation perfectly captures the unconventional journey of this power forward from Harlem.

Paradoxically, Tomlin never touched a basketball at Urban Assembly school in New York. It was only after his extraordinary growth spurt — reaching 6'9" by his senior year with a 7'2" wingspan — that he discovered the sport that would change his life. His path to the top then ran through junior colleges, first at Monroe and then at Chipola, before landing at Kansas State.

With the Wildcats, Tomlin had his moment of glory by helping the team achieve a historic Elite Eight run in 2023. But his college career took a harsh turn in December 2023: dismissed from the team for disciplinary reasons, he needed to bounce back. Memphis gave him that second chance, and the forward made the most of it, averaging 14 points and 6 rebounds in 21 games.

Going undrafted in the 2024 draft, Tomlin refused to give up. After impressing in the Summer League with Cleveland, he joined the Charge in the G League. His perseverance paid off: in February 2025, he scored his first NBA points in a Cleveland Cavaliers uniform before earning a two-way contract.

A graduate in social transformation studies, Tomlin embodies the resilience of a player who has turned every obstacle into a stepping stone toward his professional dream.
