The Chicago Bulls officially announced Tuesday the return of their legendary black jerseys with red pinstripes for the 2025-2026 season. This emblematic uniform, which hadn’t been worn since the 2012-2013 campaign, marks the third Statement Edition uniform in the franchise’s nearly 60-year history.

A legacy directly linked to Jordan’s glory years
These iconic jerseys were first worn during the historic 1995-1996 season, when Michael Jordan and the Bulls set the record of 72 wins in regular season before winning the NBA title. The uniform also accompanied the team during the 1996-1997, 2007-2008, and 2012-2013 seasons.
To unveil this long-awaited return, Chicago called upon Hall of Famer Dennis Rodman, who contributed to the franchise’s two consecutive titles while wearing these colors. « I remember when we first introduced them. It was legendary man, » said Rodman. « These jerseys are legendary. It’s not even a throwback. It’s like brand new for the new generation. »
An aesthetic that transcends basketball
The impact of these uniforms goes beyond the NBA. Their style even inspired the Chicago White Sox, who used it to create their 2025 City Connect jerseys. This shows the lasting influence of this aesthetic in American sports.
The Bulls will wear these Statement Edition jerseys during several special nights this season. The team hasn’t won a playoff series since 2015, and hopes for 2025-2026 are low. But this nod to the past should please nostalgic fans.
