A formative journey through Spain, United States, and France

Son of French international Joseph Gomis, Marcus Gomis started playing basketball at age 9 in Spain, in Malaga, where his father was playing at the time. He then went through the Haute-Vienne and Île-de-France development centers before flying to the United States to continue his training in California and Florida.

Returning to France in 2018, he joined ASVEL’s youth academy on his father’s advice. During a LNB camp in 2020, he was spotted by Alexandre Ménard, coach of Rouen Métropole Basket, who offered him his first professional contract. After two seasons in Rouen, he joined Le Mans in 2022, then Orléans in 2023.

Solid with ASA, Gomis on Poitiers’ radar

For the 2024-2025 season, Marcus Gomis signed with Alliance Sport Alsace. As an important piece of Gries-Souffel’s roster, he contributed to the team’s excellent season, which reached the promotion playoff finals (lost against Le Portel).

This past season, he averaged 8.4 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 1.6 assists in 44 Pro B games. These consistent performances caught the eye of Poitiers Basket 86, who are eager to secure his services for next season.

ASA, who could have kept him if they had been promoted, will thus lose Marcus Gomis who should continue his career in Poitiers.
