Doncic’s most remarkable feat was his triple-double achieved by halftime, with 26 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds in the first half. According to Sportradar, the last player to record a first-half triple-double was Jalen Johnson of the Atlanta Hawks on December 5th.

An offensive spectacle by the Lakers led by Doncic and James

The Lakers’ dominance was evident from the first quarter, with Doncic scoring 11 of his team’s first 20 points. The Slovenian finished the first period with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists, setting the stage for an exceptional night where he shot 62% from 3-point range (6/13) and 62% from the field (13/21).

LeBron James, 41 years old, also electrified the Capital One Arena crowd with several spectacular dunks, including a left-handed alley-oop that had the entire Lakers bench on its feet. The King finished with 20 points and 6 assists, demonstrating he can still compete at the highest level.

Deandre Ayton completed this offensive showcase with 28 points on 12/14 shooting and 13 rebounds, posting a +30 plus-minus, the team’s best. Coach JJ Redick praised his players’ response after the 30-point loss to Cleveland: « I think playing with a competitive edge and playing together on both sides of the floor. We’ve talked a lot lately about doing your job. »

This victory improves the Lakers’ record to 29 wins and 18 losses and continues their battle with Phoenix for sixth place in the Western Conference. For the Wizards (12-35), led by Malaki Branham’s 17 points, this defeat illustrates the talent gap against a Lakers team in fine form, who have won five of their last seven games.
