Since early August, many teams have launched their preparation campaign for EuroBasket 2025, which will take place from August 27 to September 14, 2025. Qualified nations are using this August to strengthen team cohesion, test players and face quality opponents in warm-up games.

First preparation games rich in lessons
Among the teams already in action, we find Spain, Slovenia, Italy, Greece, Serbia and Latvia. These teams have already started or scheduled preparation games, sometimes behind closed doors initially, before more publicized matches from mid-August.
Week of July 28 to August 3
Bosnia and Herzegovina was the first to start preparation, with a double-header in China, followed by Lithuania at home against Estonia. Additionally, the first four-team tournament was held in Italy in Trento where Pozzeco’s Italy stood out:
- 07/27: China – Bosnia and Herzegovina: 90-70
- 07/29: China – Bosnia and Herzegovina: 77-75
- 08/01: Lithuania – Estonia: 89-68

- 08/02: Poland – Senegal: 69-75
- 08/02: Italy – Iceland: 87-61
- 08/03: Italy – Senegal: 80-56

Week of August 4 to August 10
Preparation accelerates with no less than 23 games, compared to only 7 the previous week.
Early in the week, France won its first preparation game against Montenegro with Nikola Vucevic, while Spain had a scare against Portugal. Serbia and Greece also started their preparations, with Nikola Jokic but without Giannis Antetokounmpo. Following personalized training, the NBA star will return to the group soon.

In the second part of the week, Lithuania made a strong impression by winning by +21 points in Turkey with 15 points from Margiris Normantas. Spain recovered against Czech Republic and will face France in a double-header next week. In Finland, Lauri Markkanen set a historic record with 48 points in just 25 minutes.
