The New York Knicks got their revenge on the Sacramento Kings at Madison Square Garden, winning 103-87 Tuesday night. This victory allows the Knicks to even their season series against the Kings, two weeks after their loss in Sacramento on January 14.
The game remained undecided for three quarters, with the score tied 72-72 at the end of the third period. The Knicks had started the game well, leading 36-26 after the first quarter thanks in part to Mikal Bridges who had scored 9 points quickly.
The second quarter saw the Kings come back into the game, mainly carried by an excellent DeMar DeRozan. The veteran forward dominated the first half with 22 points, allowing his team to close to 52-51 at halftime. The Knicks struggled with turnovers, committing 11 in the first half, a season high.
DeMar DeRozan continued his offensive showcase in the second half, finishing the game with 34 points on 13/26 shooting. However, his individual efforts weren’t enough against the Knicks’ collective surge in crucial moments.

The Knicks captain, Jalen Brunson, embraced his leadership role in the fourth quarter. After a difficult evening until then (3/9 shooting in the first half), the point guard scored 11 crucial points in the final minutes to bring his total to 28 points. Karl-Anthony Towns also contributed to the New York surge with two 3-pointers early in the final period.
The Knicks’ defense tightened considerably in the final twelve minutes, limiting the Kings to just 13 points in the fourth quarter. Despite 21 turnovers total in the game, the New Yorkers made the difference thanks to their rediscovered outside shooting and defensive intensity.
Mitchell Robinson also shined off the bench with 13 rebounds (including 6 offensive) in 27 minutes, posting a +25 differential. This collective performance allows the Knicks (28-18) to string together a third consecutive victory, while the Kings (12-36) suffer a sixth straight loss and remain in a negative spiral with 9 consecutive road losses.
