The Denver Nuggets continued their excellent run with a commanding win over the Golden State Warriors (116-93) Sunday night. Nikola Jokic once again led the charge with 25 points and 15 rebounds, narrowly missing his fifth consecutive triple-double by just two assists.

Jokic and Murray carry Denver despite injury concerns

Jamal Murray provided valuable support to the Serbian center with 20 points, helping the Nuggets (48-28) extend their lead in the Western Conference standings. Denver now holds a two-game advantage over Minnesota and Houston for the crucial fourth seed heading into the playoffs.

The Warriors (36-39) showed resistance in the first period, particularly thanks to 23 points each from Brandin Podziemski and Kristaps Porzingis. Golden State even took control with a 19-2 run in the second quarter, leading 53-46 at halftime. However, the prolonged absence of Stephen Curry continues to weigh heavily on the California team.

Curry’s absence weighs on the Warriors

Stephen Curry missed his 25th consecutive game due to right knee issues, and the statistics speak for themselves: Golden State has lost 16 of the 25 games played without their superstar. This string of injuries seriously jeopardizes the Warriors’ playoff hopes.

Denver wasn’t spared from physical setbacks either. Aaron Gordon was ruled out after experiencing calf pain upon waking, adding to the 44 games he’s already missed this season due to various hamstring injuries. Spencer Jones and Cameron Johnson also left the game early.

The game heated up in the second quarter with several altercations involving Zeke Nnaji, De’Anthony Melton and Gary Payton II. The latter received a flagrant 1 foul for a hard contact on Peyton Watson. Despite these tensions, Denver kept their composure to turn things around in the third quarter, dominating the Warriors 40-21 thanks in part to 10 points from Tim Hardaway Jr.

The Warriors will host San Antonio on Tuesday night, while the Nuggets will travel to Utah on Wednesday to attempt to extend their winning streak.
