Jaylen Brown remains furious after the forced cancellation of his event organized Saturday evening in Beverly Hills during All-Star Weekend. The Celtics star, who signed a $285 million contract in 2023, denounces on social media a police intervention he considers unjustified and costly.
« $300,000 down the drain, » Jaylen Brown vents on X, mentioning the Beverly Hills police account. The event around his 741 brand was scheduled to take place at a private residence in the Trousdale neighborhood around 7 PM, but was interrupted by law enforcement.

Disputed version of events between Brown and police
Beverly Hills police justify their intervention by the absence of necessary authorization. « A request for an event permit had been filed, but refused by the city due to previous violations linked to events at this same address. Although the permit was denied, the organizers still chose to invite hundreds of guests, knowing full well that the event was not authorized, » states the official statement.
A version firmly contested by Brown, who claims he never filed any request. « We didn’t need a permit because it’s the owner’s personal space. We are close friends. He opened his doors to us for the festivities, so we had no steps to take, » explains the Celtics player.
For a little more context, the police came to shut down Jaylen Brown’s panel in Beverly Hills around 7 PM, claiming he didn’t file the proper permit.
« I know I play for the Celtics, and I know we’re in LA. But hey, I didn’t think y’all would do me like this. »

The event was taking place at Jim Jannard’s home, founder of Oakley which sponsors Brown. In a video posted on Instagram, the All-Star player is seen confronting a police officer: « The owner didn’t tell us we needed a permit, » he argues to the agent.
« We’re trying to organize an event, a roundtable about culture, the future, leadership. And for some reason, I feel like we’re being targeted, » he denounced in the same video. Brown emphasizes the peaceful nature of his gathering: « It was 7 PM, not 10 PM, 11 PM or midnight. We’re organizing a roundtable, we’re doing positive things. Nobody was disturbed. »
The Celtics star says he is « offended » by the police version and mentions possible legal action. The property owner « seemed very upset » according to Brown, who specifies: « They’ve organized many events there and there’s never been a problem. He told me he had even organized four or five during that same week without the slightest issue. »
