Sidelined since the game in Cholet eight days ago, Jacob Grandison (1.98m, 27 years old) has still not rejoined the Boulazac Basket Dordogne squad. According to La Dordogne Libre, the American-Finnish wing, who notably played for Duke University before joining BBD in September, remains unavailable for « personal reasons » related to FIBA and his participation in EuroBasket.

Ongoing mystery around Jacob Grandison

As the Perigord club prepares to host Nancy, the mystery remains. « For personal reasons, which I cannot disclose, he currently cannot use the facilities, train or play with us, » explained coach Alexandre Menard, quoted by La Dordogne Libre.

BBD had already had to do without Grandison in Cholet, then in Orthez on Tuesday in the French Cup. This prolonged absence complicates squad management for a club that had started its season well, with a convincing victory against Saint-Quentin (94-76).

A player appreciated by the group

While the exact reasons for this sidelining remain covered by medical confidentiality, the Boulazac coach doesn’t hide his regret: « It’s a real handicap for us because he’s a highly appreciated player in the group and brought us so many things, » says Alexandre Menard.

The staff must therefore learn to cope without their wing, like other teams, such as Nancy being deprived of Stephane Gombauld at the start of this season. It remains to be seen whether Jacob Grandison will be able to play again for BBD in the near future.
