Nicolas Batum (2.03 m, 36 years old) will commentate on EuroBasket 2025 and the 2027 World Cup on TF1. The French international player (177 caps), currently with the Los Angeles Clippers, confirmed the news this Wednesday through a statement expressing his pride and desire to contribute to French basketball’s media coverage.
Nicolas Batum announced his future collaboration with TF1 with an enthusiastic message. The former French team captain, two-time Olympic silver medalist (Tokyo 2021, Paris 2024) and 2013 European champion, explained his commitment:
« I am convinced this is a great opportunity for French basketball to benefit from the exposure of a group like TF1, which will bring even more spotlight to French basketball. I am proud and grateful to be part of this project. I want to thank TF1’s management for their trust, which I intend to repay by bringing my experience and expertise to viewers. »
The TF1 group has officially confirmed the news announced last Friday. The former Le Mans youth academy player will indeed commentate on EuroBasket 2025 (August 27 to September 14 in Latvia, Poland, Finland and Cyprus) and the 2027 World Cup.
Nicolas Batum will form a unique duo with Grégoire Margotton, TF1’s leading journalist. The latter returns to his roots, having commented on basketball early in his career. Together, they will bring a mix of high-level experience and mainstream storytelling.
The presence of such a duo on a major national media outlet is a strong signal for French basketball’s visibility, continuing the post-Olympic momentum.
