From -20 to the Title in Overtime: Rytas Vilnius Wins an Incredible BCL 2026 Final!

In Badalona,
BC Rytas Vilnius has won the first Basketball Champions League (BCL) title in its history, and what a way to do it! Trailing by 20 points during the third quarter, the Lithuanians stormed back in the fourth quarter, scoring 35 points in the period. Jerrick Harding came alive (1 point in the first three quarters, 15 in the fourth), while shooter Simonas Lukosius had a field day from behind the three-point line. It was he who forced overtime (80-80) in front of a stunned crowd of more than 10,000 spectators who could hardly believe the turnaround.

From there, playing cohesive team basketball against a collection of individuals unable to respond, BC Rytas Vilnius fed Arturas Gudaitis to take the lead in overtime and claim the third European trophy in club history, following EuroCup titles in 2005 and 2009. In ten seasons of BCL competition, this marks the first time a team that was trailing by 10 or more points has won the final. An incredible comeback that is a perfect reminder of just how magical basketball can be…
