An exciting season at Denain

After going through the French National Team Training Center and SIG Strasbourg’s youth academy, Essome Miyem had modest beginnings in Pro A and BCL with the Alsatian club. He also got a taste of Pro B with Souffelweyersheim before fully developing at Lille between 2021 and 2023.

But it was truly with Denain, over the last two seasons, that the Reims native took a step forward. This 2024-2025 season, under Ali Bouziane’s guidance, the 2017 U16 European champion averaged 7.6 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in 38 games. With a competitive Denain team (12th with a 19-19 record), Essome Miyem showed he could make an impact in the paint and contribute on both ends of the floor.

His arrival at Boulazac symbolizes this logical progression for the 23-year-old player, who will now have to adapt to Betclic ELITE’s rhythm and intensity. BBD, promoted next season, will be able to count on a hardworking player with an interesting profile to strengthen their frontcourt, alongside Ousman Krubally but without Louis Cassier, who is leaving for Caen. It remains to be seen whether Babacar Mbye, under contract, will stay.
