Enovos League round-up: Etzella's 44-point rout headlines game day 2

Six games, six different storylines. Between a 44-point blowout, an overtime classic, a fourth-quarter track meet in Soleuvre and two more lopsided results in Larochette and Walferdange, game day 2 of the Enovos League gave fans of Luxembourg basketball plenty to talk about.

Etzella's 44-point rout dwarfs Racing

Etzella Ettelbruck delivered the round's most emphatic statement, dismantling Racing Luxembourg 104-60 in Ettelbruck this past Sunday, September 27. The 44-point margin was the largest of the weekend, and the 104 points scored was the highest total posted by any team on game day 2.

Etzella built the gap methodically, outscoring Racing 34-23 in the second quarter alone after a tight opening frame (19-15), then pulling away for good with a 28-13 fourth. The home side shot 16 of 32 on 3-points, good for 50%, and racked up 29 assists on 39 made field goals — an assist rate near 74% that told the story of a team playing loose and connected all night.

Travis Henson led the way with 26 points on 11-of-21 shooting, adding 6 rebounds and 3 steals. Jaylen Key was at the center of that finish, playing all 45 minutes and finishing with 18 points, 22 rebounds — the highest rebounding total of the weekend — 3 blocks and 4 assists. T71 did not go quietly. Jimmie Taylor III poured in 30 points on 27 attempts, and Uros Malesevic added 21 points while hitting 5 of 9 from behind the arc. But T71's night was undone by inefficiency — the visitors shot just 33% from the field as a team on 84 attempts, and their 10-of-31 clip on 3-points wasn't enough to offset a 44-53 rebounding deficit against a Musel Pikes frontcourt that simply would not let up on the boards.

Amicale and Sparta trade haymakers in Steinsel

The weekend's most entertaining shootout came in Steinsel, where Amicale Steesel held off Sparta Bertrange 95-91. Sparta actually won the fourth quarter 33-30, closing hard in the final frame, but the damage had already been done — Amicale's 28-15 third quarter, after Sparta had led 43-37 at halftime, proved to be the decisive stretch of the game.

Jarvis Williams was nearly unstoppable for Sparta, finishing with 35 points — the highest scoring total of the entire round — on 11-of-23 shooting, adding 4 steals and a perfect 10-of-10 mark from the free-throw line. It simply wasn't enough. Amicale countered with a two-man attack of its own: Conley Phipps III scored 30 points with 7 rebounds and 4 assists, while Landon Seaman added 28 points and 9 rebounds on efficient 12-of-20 shooting. Max Logelin chipped in 21 points for Sparta, but Amicale's balance — combined with a 55% clip from the field as a team — proved to be the difference in a game that came down to the final buzzer.

Esch survives a track meet in Soleuvre

AS Soleuvre and Basket Esch turned Sunday afternoon, September 27, into a shootout of their own, with Esch escaping 97-93 on the road. Riding a hot hand from beyond the arc, the visitors connected on 14 of 28 3-points, half of their attempts, compared to a chilly 24% clip for the home side.
